Mount Kailash & Manasarovar Lake Tour
(beginning and end in Lhasa / Chengdu, 19 days)

For most travelers to Far-west Tibet the prime focus of their journey is the sacred peak of Mount Kailash(6,658 metres). This extraordinary mountain is regarded as the “heart of the world”, the center of Asia, by Buddhists, Hindus and the followers of other spiritual traditions. Of all special destinations for the travelers to reach, Mount Kailash is surely one of most sublime and sacred.

Itinerary: (B=breakfast, L=lunch, D=dinner)

Day01: Arrival in Chengdu
Pick up and transfer to hotel and then free time. Overnight in 3 star hotel.

Day02: Flight Chengdu - Lhasa (B)
In the early morning transfer to airport and fly to Tibet. Upon arrival at the Gonggar airport, pick up and transfer to Lhasa which is situated at a altitude of 3650 meters. Overnight in 3 star hotel.

Day03: Sightseeing in Lhasa (B/L)
We have a full day in this mystical capital exploring the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and the famous Barkor street. Overnight in 3 star hotel.

Day04: Sightseeing in Lhasa (BL)
Today we visit Drepung and Sera monastery. Overnight in 3 star hotel.

Day05: Lhasa - Gyantse - Shigatse (B/D)
The road to Gyantse meanders down through the Kyichu Valley to Yarlong Tsampa (Brahmaputra) River before climbing over Khama La Pass at 4,900 m(16,076 ft).We will stop to take a breath in this majestic topography - the serene turquoise lake of Yamdrok Tso with a backdrop of snow-topped mountains. Before reaching Gyantse, we will make one more ascent over Karo La at 5,200 m(17,060 ft). In Gyantse, you will visit the 14-15th century fortress and temples, most notably the Gyantse Kumbum, the Stupa of 100,000 Deities, which is one of Tibet's most famous architectural achievements. After that we head to Shigatse. Overnight in 3 star hotel. 

Day06: Shigatse - Latse (B/L)
In the morning we visit the grand Tashilhunpo Monastery, which was founded by Pachen Lama I in 1447 and remains the center of the Shigatse's community. After that drive to Latse. Overnight in guesthouse or in tent.

Day07: Latse - Saga (B/D)
From Latse onwards, we will be driving on rugged roads. Saga, meaning 'Happy Land', is situated along the Tsangpo River in a region criscrossed by the upper Brahmaputra and its tributaries. The land becomes rugged, the air thinner and the sky endless and impossibly blue. Overnight in guesthouse or in tent .

Day08: Saga - Paryang (B/D)
Another day's driving(260km) take us to Paryang in the heart of western Tibet, where the four great rivers of South Asia diverge from their glacial sources around Mount Kailash. During the rainy season, the roads to Paryang are likely to be washed out by floods, in which case we may need to drive the truck through a 30 cm(11.7 inches) deep stream. Overnight in guesthouse or in tent .

Day09: Paryang - Manasarovar lake (B/D)
Today you arrive at holy lake Manasarovar (4588 m).
Overnight in tent.

Day10: Manasarovar lake - Darchen (B/D)
Parikrama of Lake Manasarovar en-route visit Seralung, Turgo Chiu monastery
and then drive to Darchen.Darchen(4575 meters) is the starting and completion point for the general circuit of the sacred mountain. It is wise to spend at least a day here in preparation. Overnight in guesthouse or in tent.

Day11: Trekking around Mount Kailash (B/D)
Early morning drive to Tarboche. Meet Yaks & Yak-men and start trek (Parikrama) of              Holy Kailash to Dirapuk. Overnight in tent.

Day12: Trekking around Mount Kailash (B/D)
Trekking to Zuthul Puk crossing over Dolma La Pass. Overnight in tent.

Day13: Trekking to Darchen. Overnight in guesthouse or in tent (B/D)

Day14-Day18: Darchen - Paryang - Saga - Latse - Shigatse - Lhasa. (B/D)
Return journey to Lhasa. Overnight in guesthouse or in tent in Paryang and in Saga, overnight in 3 star hotel in Shigatse and in Lhasa.

Day19: In the morning transfer to airport and fly back to Chengdu.

Notes: 

1. The trip to Kailash is limited in May, June, September and October.
2.  All accommodations from Latse to Tsada are very simple, so you'd better take sleeping bag.
3. If you have not enough time to do this trip, 2-3 days can also be shortened, or you don't trip to Tsada, only to Mt. Kailash.
4. Trip to regions of West and Far-West Tibet, you may wish to carry cheeses, chocolates,coffee and so forth, which can be very welcome if the  weather suddenly turns nasty, or if you have stomach trouble.
